1902年にフランスのジョルジュ・メリエスが脚本・監督した、モノクロ・サイレント映画。1秒16フレームで、14分の作品。原作はジュール・ヴェルヌの『月世界旅行』だが、この作品を大幅に簡略化し、変更を加えたものである。後半の月人のエピソードはH・G・ウェルズの『月世界最初の人間』（1901年）が基になっている。本作は色の付いた着色版も存在する。（ウィキペディア より）
